Stevens Point, WI
Dr. Russ Groves of the UW Department of Entomology gave several presentations at the 2013 WPVGA/UW Extension Grower Education Conference. Groves spoke on Predicting Aphid Flights; Insect Management in Onion; and Insecticide Resistance Management. Groves said 2012 was the warmest year on record in the contiguous United States, and it was also very dry, which was great for insects. He said resistance is growing to the “neonics” and that scouting and surveillance will be keys to keeping pests under control.
