Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association

Interview with Chris Malek

When it comes to potatoes, Chris Malek has been around the
block, so to speak. He grew up on his family’s potato and vegetable farm in Rosholt, worked for some of the largest potato farms in the state, and is currently employed as an Agronomy Specialist at McCain Foods USA in Plover, no small player in the potato processing industry. And oh, by the way, one of his hobbies happens to be organic potato farming.

A member of the Potato Association of America, Malek is heavily involved in
the McCain Foods research plot, where his duties include plot establishment, variety evaluation, and data collection and analysis. Malek has a BS degree in Agronomy from UW-River Falls, and an MS degree in Plant Pathology from UW-Madison.

Read the entire interview, in which Chris Malek March 2007 discusses his work with McCain Foods including his research findings, and shares his thoughts on organic potato
production.
