Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association

Interview with Todd Michael

Todd Michael is co-owner of Michael Farms, Inc. of Urbana, Ohio. He farms along with his brothers, Kurt and Scott. They formed their family corporation in 1980. Before that, Todd’s father, Doug, operated Michael and Sons, which grew potatoes, strawberries and grain crops.

Todd grew up working on the farm. He and his brother Scott
started growing other vegetables while they were in high school and
throughout college. They grew all sorts of crops, finding out which ones they could find markets for. They now grow and package 500 acres of potatoes (Superiors, Langlade, Reba and Yukon Gold), 700 acres of green beans, 450 acres of sweet corn and
100 acres of cabbage, all for the fresh market.
