Ag Day on Campus

MADISON, Wis. — Members of the Collegiate Farm Bureau at UW-Madison (CFB) will be giving students an opportunity to interact with agriculture at Ag Day on Campus being held Wednesday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Library Mall.

“We are excited to host the sixth annual Ag Day on Campus this year. Ag Day provides us with the opportunity to have conversations with peers about agriculture and how modern farming continues to be sustainable,” said Lindsey Hellenbrand, University of Wisconsin-Madison student majoring in Dairy Science and Life Sciences Communication and a current member of CFB. “The University Club on campus will be partnering with us again this year to provide food products grown and produced right here in Wisconsin.”

The Collegiate Farm Bureau will be handing out food samples using products from Wisconsin including milk from Sassy Cow Creamery, potato chips from Wisconsin Potato Growers, string cheese and artisanal Wisconsin cheeses. We will also have samples made by the University Club that will feature additional Wisconsin products. The public is encouraged to check out the menu at the University Club that day, which will expand on these products.

“Our members are excited to share their agriculture stories with other students on campus,” Hellenbrand mentioned. “We all have unique stories to share and we want to use these to educate consumers, while we help them understand misconceptions they may have about agriculture.”

Sponsors of Ag Day on Campus include Landmark Services Cooperative, University Club, Milk Source, Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, Udder Tech Inc, Agri-Nutrition Consulting, Dane County Dairy Promotion Board, SCR Dairy, Badgerland Financial, Rosy-Lane Holsteins LLC, Dairy Business Milk Marketing Cooperative, Association of Women in Agriculture, Wisconsin Corn Growers Association, Wisconsin Beef Council, Vita Plus, Baker Cheese, Wisconsin Honey Producers Association, Ebert Enterprises, Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin, Alpha Gamma Rho, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, Vitruvian Farms, Wisconsin Pork Association, Collegiate FFA, and NAMA at UW-Madison. The Collegiate Farm Bureau would like to thank all those that helped make the event possible. Collegiate Farm Bureau is a University of Wisconsin-Madison student organization acting as a voice for agriculture – striving to educate the local college community about agriculture, the food sciences and agribusiness.
