In the weeks ahead as crops are harvested, manure storage systems will be emptied. The recent incident of a young farmer who died while agitating a non-enclosed manure storage system has increased awareness related to manure gases.   While we wait on final results of the investigation, we invite you to join us for a Manure Gas Safety Webinar on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon CDT.

The link for the webinar is: http://go.wisc.edu/53zv4i

Portage County UW-Extension will be hosting a live stream of the webinar at the Portage County Annex Building, Rooms 1 & 2.

We will discuss what is known about manure gases and health considerations, recent incidents, safety precautions and emergency response procedures.

Please share with farmers or others that may have interest in this topic.
