Langlade County Agriculture Educator Position Transition

We want to inform you that a transition is occurring in the Langlade County, UW-Extension Agriculture Educator position.  Effective July 1, 2015 Stephanie Plaster began to transition out of her role as Langlade County Agriculture Educator to a role with UW-Extension’s Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANRE) Program Area.  Effective August 1st, Stephanie will no longer have work responsibilities in Langlade County.  Moving forward, Stephanie’s work with ANRE will likely include potato/vegetable applied research and educational programming – details of this are still being worked out.

Effective August 1, 2015 and through January 31, 2016, Steve Zimmerman will be assuming the role as Interim Langlade County UW-Extension Agriculture Educator (40% time during August 2015 and 60% time from September 2015 through January 2016).  During this time Steve’s primary responsibility will be to work with UW-Madison, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and UW-Extension/ANRE researchers, research partners and Kevin Gallenberg, Antigo research station site manager to complete 2015 research work and coordinate educational programs related to the Antigo potato research station.  Steve will also work with researchers and the Wisconsin Potato Vegetable Growers Association to begin planning 2016 research projects.  Other educational programs will be coordinated depending on clientele needs and time available.

Steve Zimmerman has solid training and extensive experience working with the potato industry, planning and implementing educational programs and conducting applied research.  He served in a similar interim role in 2012.  Steve can be reached at: [email protected] and his phone number is 715-627-6236.

UW-Extension’s ANRE Program Area and the Langlade County UW-Extension Office are committed to provide educational programming to support Langlade County agricultural clientele.  Due to the recently passed state budget and corresponding reductions to the budget of the University of Wisconsin System, UW-Extension is looking to make some changes to our program delivery model.  How these changes will impact the longer term future of the Langlade County Agriculture Educator position is unknown at this time.
