Potatoes USA Delivers “You Can Do That with Potatoes?!” Presentation to Two Dozen Editors

Potatoes USA recently paid a visit to the Meredith Corporation in Des Moines, IA, the home to a host of top print and online media including Parents, Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, Martha Stewart Living, Shape, Rachael Ray Everyday, EatingWell, and more. Potatoes USA worked with Meredith Corporation to extend an invitation for editors to join a “You Can Do That with Potatoes?!” presentation, resulting in an amazing turnout of 24 attendees from a variety of publications.

Sarah Reece, Global Marketing Manager, and Molly Connors, Potatoes USA Domestic Marketing Committee Member, delivered a presentation covering potato types and forms, potato nutrition and the potato growing process. They then turned the floor over to local Des Moines Chef and Restaurateur, George Formaro, who shared recipe ideas for using all forms of potatoes—fresh, frozen and dehydrated—in unique preparations. Editors loved his unique spin on Potato Pepperjack Soup using both frozen and dehydrated potatoes, a potato salad using both potato flakes and fresh potatoes, and a potato-crusted salmon using frozen hash browns. A passionate potato-lover, Chef Formaro also shared tips with the group for how he perfects the Fries and other potato dishes he serves in his popular Des Moines restaurants.

Editor feedback was very positive and everyone took home a copy of the “You Can Do That with Potatoes?!” inspiration book. Potatoes USA will be continuing the conversations with the editors in attendance via a follow-up send of additional potato information in the near future.
