Spud Beer to Return at Saturday’s Spud Bowl Tailgate

UW-Stevens Point athletics and corporate partner Stevens Point Brewery have announced the creation of a beer garden for Saturday’s Spud Bowl where the brewery will exclusively release a throwback of Spud Beer.

Brewmaster Mike dug deep in the archives to find the original recipe for Spud Beer. Written out on a typewriter and covered in handwritten notes, Mike deciphered the recipe and brewed it with potatoes donated by Wysocki Family of Companies.

The beer garden will be in the area south of Goerke Park and will be open from 10:30 a.m. until kickoff at 1:00 p.m.  The Spud Beer and all other beer will be sold for $4 each, cash only, and will be confined to the beer garden. All proceeds from the beer garden and other Spud Bowl related events go the Spud Bowl Scholarship Fund.

The annual Spud Bowl kicks off Saturday (Nov. 2) at 1:00 p.m. between the Pointers and UW-Eau Claire.  A celebration of the area’s potato industry, the Spud Bowl provides fans the opportunity to sample free baked potatoes and French fries from local farms.
