Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association

2019 UW State Farm Tour – Welcome New Staff and Photo Opportunity

Wisconsin Certified Seed Growers:

This year’s open house and celebration of at the State Farm is scheduled for Friday August 2, 2019. Please plan to join us to see what is new at the Lelah Starks Foundation Seed Potato Farm in Rhinelander (about 7 miles west of town on County highway K). Help us welcome our new staff members to the Seed Program: Admin Program Director, Dr. Renee Rioux; Asst. Farm Manager, Matt Cogger, and Research/Outreach Specialist, Cole Lubinski. After the tour is complete, a professional photographer will be present to take a group photo of the seed growers and program staff for marketing purposes.

The “Wisconsin Seed Team” photo taken at the State Farm tour several years ago has been displayed prominently in the seed association’s booth at major trade shows and used on the front of the crop directory. It also has been used extensively in promotional materials for the Wisconsin seed industry. Your customers have commented that they like being able to put a face with the name of their seed supplier, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to get a mug from your farm in this year’s seed team picture.

A brief orientation for newcomers and field tours at the State Farm will begin at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at about 12:00 p.m. as the field tours are completed. You have the pleasure of being hosted for lunch again this year by the Associate Division of the WPVGA and Altmann Construction, Co. Inc., of Wisconsin Rapids. The photographer is scheduled to show up some time around 12:30 p.m. The photo session has typically lasted a half hour or so in the past.
