2020 Walk Wisconsin Event Cancelled

Please see the following message from Sara Brish, Executive Director of the Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitors Bureau regarding this year’s event.

With a heavy heart, I am writing to inform you of our decision to cancel Walk Wisconsin 2020, which was scheduled for June 6, 2020. After careful consideration given the circumstances surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic we feel that it is the best course of action at this time to responsibly follow health and safety guidelines in order to keep our participants and volunteers safe.

Active Portage County sponsors support more than Walk Wisconsin. In addition to our signature walking event our sponsors allow the community to keep moving year-round through additional events like the Hard Rocks Hiking Challenge, Moon Walk Wisconsin and the Active Portage County free ski day event held at Standing Rocks County park each year.

Your sponsorship is vital to support Active Portage County’s mission to support the health of the community by creating and promoting fun physical activities that encourage regular exercise. Because of your support, we have been able to consistently offer programming to serve our mission, and better serve the community. A portion of proceeds for Walk Wisconsin also support the Wellness Fund and the Happy Trails Fund at the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, in addition to supporting wellness orientated activities and events to promote healthy people and lifestyles in central Wisconsin.

While we are disappointed to not share this day with our community of walkers, we know that it is the best course of action. Active Portage County is still hopeful that our fall programming will continue as planned, including the Hard Rocks Hiking Challenge and Moon Walk Wisconsin.

We thank you for your support. In the coming weeks we strive to continue to provide ways to keep the community moving and hope you continue to help support our mission in central Wisconsin.

Until then, stay safe and keep moving.
