Interview with Charlie Higgins
The scope of Charlie Higgins’ work is no small potatoes. As the Director of Research and Development for Heartland Farms, Inc., Hancock,Wisconsin and L. Walther & Sons, Inc., Three Rivers, Michigan, Higgins is working for two farms that combined, raise nearly 27,000 acres of potatoes and vegetables. Heartland Farms raises 13,769 acres of potatoes, sweet corn, beans and peas, while the Walther farm raises approximately 13,175 acres of potatoes. Both farms specialize in chipping potatoes for Frito-Lay.
