Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association

Interview with Tom, Brian and Brad Igl

What a difference a bag can make. That’s the feeling of the Igl family, certified organic potato growers on Antigo’s north side. The Igls recently introduced a new bag with a new brand name, “Organic Spuddies,” complete with eye-catching artwork, variety-specific recipes, and a photo and description of their family farm. The results have been in a word, “fantastic.” The spuds flew off the shelves and the Igls could have sold even more if they hadn’t run out of product.

In the following interview, Tom Igl and sons Brian, and Brad, discuss their success with the change in potato packaging, as well as the philosophy and challenges associated
with organic faming.
