Wisconsin Ag Women’s Summit

PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. — The 5th annual Wisconsin Ag Women’s Summit is set for March 13-14 at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton. Register by the February 13th early bird deadline to save $25 on the conference fee. The final registration deadline is March 6th. New this year is a one-day-only registration option.

The Summit will kick off with the announcement of the 2015 AgVocate of the Year. The award will recognize a Wisconsin ag woman who has gone above and beyond to tell the story of Wisconsin agriculture with those around her. Sponsoring the award is Wisconsin agriculture broadcaster Pam Jahnke, otherwise known as the Fabulous Farm Babe.

Keynote speakers are Scott Zimmer from BridgeWorks and Laura Daniels from Heartwood Farm, Cobb, Wis. Zimmer will engage the audience in discussions on working with multiple generations in today’s workforce. Daniels, one of the 2014 Wisconsin Ag Women’s Summit AgVocates of the Year, will close the conference inspiring attendees to live a life with purpose using baler twine and barn lime as daily reminders.

Sixteen additional breakout sessions will engage in farm-focused business topics including: succession planning and working with family; farm financial planning; agriculture legislation; employee management; reducing ‘wear and tear’ from farming; Wisconsin dairy history; and, adding value to the farm. Lighter topics include: upcycling farm finds; learning about consumer habits and grocery store strategies; going from farm to fabulous; the tradition of food preservation; Wisconsin ag tourism; and signs your office is in need of a makeover.

Optional Friday morning yoga and bootcamp workout sessions will be led by Dorchester farmer, Tolea Peissig, and Beach Body coach, George Chavez.

The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board will be conducting a cheese and beverage pairing as part of the Friday evening social, sponsored by the Tourism Commission. And brought back by popular demand for the evening entertainment is the dueling pianos group, Piano Fondue.
