Stevens Point, WI (January 7, 2015) – Portage County Executive Patty Dreier will be hosting the last Groundwater Listening Session next week before a final presentation of all nine listening sessions is held. The last listening session will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Portage County Public Library from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM in the Pinery Room, 1001 Main Street, Stevens Point. The listening sessions focus on the topics of groundwater quantity and quality. Any interested individuals are encouraged to attend. Over 150 individuals have attended the previous eight sessions held in every quadrant of Portage County.

Inputs about groundwater issues and opportunities have been gathered at each of the sessions following a basic groundwater and surface water education presentation that has related to the unique local water situation in the vicinity of each listening session. After the last listening session on January 13, a final session providing a summary of all previous nine sessions will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in the Portage County Annex Building, Conference Rooms 1 & 2. At the final session on February 4, all the ideas gathered at the listening sessions will be shared with recommendations for taking these ideas forward to be considered as a foundation for action strategy development for Portage County’s Groundwater Management Plan which is currently under revision. The County Executive also plans to publish a summary report which will be posted at the County’s website, www.co.portage.wi.us, on February 4.
