Rhinelander Field Day
Researchers will share updates on potato breeding research, plus the latest strategies for managing potato insects and diseases.

This field day will feature a field wagon tour starting at 10:15 am giving a first-hand look at the stations research in action. Expert speakers will share updates on UW–Madison potato breeding research—including the use of remote sensing technology—as well as the latest strategies for managing potato insects and plant pathology. Hear from the following UW experts:
- Becky Eddy with updates on the Rhinelander Agricultural Research Station
- Ryan Vinhalon Phytofiltering of Disinfectant Wastewater Using Poplars and Willows
- Ann Impullitti, Dr. Shannon Riha, and Dr. Bryant Scharenbroch on Understanding how Plant-Soil interactions Influences PFAS Distribution and Transport
- Brooke Babler on Wisconsin Seed Potato Certification Program Updates
- Maura Koth on Why are Pollinator Plots Vital?
- Jeffery Endelman on Potato Breeding
- Johan Aparicio on Remote Sensing to Improve Breeding for Higher Yield
- Amanda Gevens on Strategies for Early Blight and White Mold Management in Potato
- Russ Groves on Insect management to Limit Transmission of Potato Virus
The program will also include important updates from Langlade Agricultural Research Station (LARS), alongside news on the station’s ongoing phytoremediation and pollinator projects. A broasted chicken and mashed potato lunch will be served at 12:00 pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity for networking and community discussion. No registration required!
