Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association
Interview with TJ Kennedy
Strong roots. They’re important for vegetable crops and they’re important for people, too. Current WPVGA President T.J. Kennedy definitely has strong roots in the potato industry. Kennedy was raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, and worked eight years for Andy Merry with Crop Care of Langlade County, scouting potato fields in Wisconsin’s third-largest potato-producing county.
He later worked two years as the Research Storage Manager for Frito-Lay, Inc. at the company’s storage research facility located at Heartland Farms in Hancock, Wisconsin. Now as the Assistant Farm Manager/Quality Manager for Heartland Farms, Inc., Kennedy works closely with Farm Manager Dave Knights and Owner Dick Pavelski,
overseeing the farm’s 13,000 acres of potatoes, peas, snap beans, sweet corn
and carrots.
